srcpcsoha asked: Re-watching the scene when Jasper and Lapis fuse.. how tall is Lapis, exactly?

this might drive you crazy, but… there are no set heights for the SU characters. we only want to make each shot dynamic- the characters have height relationships to each other in each individual shot but the heights of each character are kept deliberately vague.

I’ve talked about this before and I’ll go on about it forever, but SU’s visual style is built around expressiveness and wild changes- crazy takes and fun distortions. It’s not about locking in certain details, heights and stock expressions that can never change. a lot of people describe this as “messy” and hate how we go off-model, but SU was never intended to have the visual rigidity of something like Family Guy.

it’s VERY important to us that the characters are flexible. Sometimes Steven’s head grows and changes just to fit his expression, or facial details appear in one shot and not another. this is a cartoon where those sorts of things can happen! i don’t apologize for that!

So the answer is: Lapis is taller than Steven but shorter then Pearl
